Flever Happy Corner — DIY Miniature Tin Box Kit

$12.30

4.2 · 309 notes

Happy Corner is the tin printed IN A HAPPY CORNER on the lid, and it opens into exactly that: a reading nook with a chair, a lamp, a shelf of books and a window pasted into the lid behind. It is the friendliest of the four tins.

There is nothing structural to get wrong, which makes it a good first project for a child working with an adult. The books and the loose objects are where the time goes. It closes flat and travels, which no other format in our range does.

It sits at the lower end of this shelf of 4 tin kits, builders have left it 4.2 out of five across 309 notes, and it is in stock as we write this.

A tin has room for one idea, so Happy Corner is designed by subtraction: we draw the rooms of a larger dollhouse scene, then take away everything the story can live without, down to two paper flowers and a shelf of jars. Boxes this small still get the same build and the same booklet as our largest DIY miniature house kit.

What arrives in your Flever miniature kit

  • A hinged metal tin that doubles as the floor and the back wall.
  • A dozen or so laser-cut furniture and decoration parts.
  • Printed paper, fabric scraps and paper flowers.
  • Glue, tweezers and double-sided tape.
  • A short photographed booklet, start to finish.

How the DIY build goes

  1. Buy a tin first if you have never built a DIY miniature kit at all; it costs less than an evening out.
  2. Pick the scene by its colour, not its parts count — at this size the palette is what you notice from across a desk.
  3. Two or three tins make a better gift than one larger kit for somebody whose patience you cannot predict.

Every Flever tin is drawn, cut and built once on our own bench before the first one is packed.

Notes from people who built it

“My 15 year old daughter did this one over her Christmas break while I worked on one of my own. She did a great job but did get frustrated with the very tiny things. Her pack came with a variety of tools and the batteries were included but it's best to have a set of your own tools and glue for these sorts of projects.”

“I built it and it looks fantastic! No general complaints - some of the instructions were a little hard to follow (some parts might have been better in a different order?) If you buy this, definitely use some kind of uber, super glue. Otherwise it's hard to put together.”
